Is it Okay to Workout During Pregnancy?
It has been discovered in a recent study by doctors that healthy women who exercise regularly during pregnancy deliver healthy babies without compromising fetal growth or development. With this said:
- always check with your doctor before commencing exercise when pregnant;
- always exercise at a level that does not cause pain, shortness of breath or excessive fatigue;
- do exercises such as swimming, stationary cycling and walking;
- avoid activities such as contact and racquet sports;
- don't exercise while lying on your back since the weight of the baby can interfere with proper blood circulation;
- exercise in the early morning or late evening to help you avoid getting too hot; and
- drink plenty of fluids even if you are not thirsty.
Enjoy your exercise and take care not to overdo anything you choose to do.
